The Melbourne Awards are the City of Melbourne’s highest accolade, celebrating the inspirational Melburnians who dedicate their time and energy to making this city a world leader.
This year the iconic Melbourne institution, Lort Smith is a finalist in the Business category.
Lort Smith CEO, Fiona Webster said, “During the most difficult COVID-19 days, Lort Smith has continued to support the animals who bring so much to the lives of people of Melbourne.
“Throughout the pandemic, the team of vets, vet nurses and animal welfare officers have worked tirelessly to provide exceptional support for animals, their carers and those in the community.
“We are very honoured to have been named a Business Champion finalist in the Melbourne Awards, by the City of Melbourne in such a difficult year for so many,” she said.
Lort Smith is dedicated to maintaining the human-animal bond for those who need it most and have helped keep pets with their families – regardless of financial circumstances – via discounts, payment plans, their Pets in Need Fund and their Emergency Welfare Assistance Program.
Ms Webster added, “Lort Smith has been supporting the Victorian and Melbourne community since 1936, and we intend to continue to be there for when animals and their carers need us for another 85 years.”
The winners of the Melbourne Awards will be announced at 2pm on Saturday 21 November on Channel 9 as part of a special television broadcast: City of Melbourne’s COVID Heroes – 2020 Melbourne Awards.
In 2020 the program will shine its light on Community Champions who have shown great leadership, kindness and generosity during the COVID-19 crisis. Celebrating individuals and businesses that have made a significant contribution in the following categories; Business, Digital Innovation, Youth, Community, Essential Services and Arts and Culture.
