Lort Smith Adoption Centre offers sanctuary, rehabilitation, welfare and a new home for surrendered pets.

Lort Smith has a philosophy that we will never euthanise an animal that is capable of being rehomed, no matter how long it takes. The Adoption Centre team ensures that animals find the best home for their needs.

Every year the Adoption Centre will find homes for around 600 animals, including approximately 500 cats, 80 dogs and 20 pocket pets. Many animals we rehome also require significant and expensive veterinary treatments. This is an important part of Lort Smith’s charity work in caring and treating animals, and never giving up on an animal, which can mean thousands of dollars spent on care.

This care is only possible with the support from wonderful members of the community – our greatest thanks to all those who give so generously to Lort Smith.
