Veterinary Graduate Intern Program

Lort Smith is committed to supporting new graduates in their first year as practicing clinicians. Our Veterinary Graduate Intern Program is designed to provide graduates with training and clinical experience within a large hospital environment.

Lort Smith’s commenced the program in 2018 with one intern.

The program sees successful interns rotate through the different hospital departments in a structured program over 12 months. They are required to meet competencies and timelines as they progress through the program. This ensures the interns develop their skills and capabilities with support from mentors as they transition into the profession.

The program has been a great success and in 2022 we have taken on two graduates (pictured right).

We are delighted that two of our 2021 interns have accepted full time positions at Lort Smith.
