Statement on wildlife media incidents this week

The Lort Smith Animal Hospital would like to express their shock and disappointment on recent reports of the mistreatment of wildlife by individuals as captured on social media this week.

 

At our hospital, we witness first-hand the trauma wild animals can suffer and work tirelessly to nurse them back to health so they can be returned safely to their natural habitat.

 

We also see wildlife carers who dedicate themselves to rescuing animals experiencing trauma from various accidents and incidents.

While many of the wildlife cases we see are accidental, the cases in recent media were not.

 

They were deliberate, senseless and absolutely abhorrent.

 

The Lort Smith Animal Hospital stands with everyone who was sickened by the footage this week and encourages kindness, compassion and care for all animals.
