Lort Smith is saying farewell and a big thank you to Chair, Dr Alastair Stott, who, after much contemplation and five years of service, has made the difficult decision to retire from his duties as a director.
Deputy Chair Kristin Fox will be leading the board in the very short interim until an appointment of a new Chair can be considered at the upcoming AGM on 27th May.
During his time on the Lort Smith Board, Alastair’s contributions have been numerous. But the most significant is to have successfully safeguarded the organisation’s distinguished legacy during the inevitable challenges that came with the substantial refurbishment and rebuild of our North Melbourne Hospital. Alongside the establishment of a brand-new clinic and adoption centre in Campbellfield.
Most recently, Alastair took on the responsibility of upskilling our Board of Directors to bring in fresh perspectives. And presenting the opportunity for staff, volunteers and other stakeholders to share their visions and hopes for the future of Lort Smith as part of our new strategy development.
In short, Alastair’s proud and passionate dedication to Lort Smith has set us in good stead for the years to come.
Lort Smith would like to acknowledge his ever-giving nature and unwavering commitment to Lort Smith and the impact it has in bringing communities together over a shared love of animals.
