New Look – Same Care.

You may have noticed that we look a little different? Brands evolve, and ours has too!

We’ve refreshed our branding to signal our exciting future. Not only are we expanding to a new second site in Campbellfield, we are commencing a redevelopment of our original North Melbourne Animal Hospital.

Although some things are changing, what remains the same is our mission – to improve the health and happiness of animals and the people that care for them. We are continuing to do this every day through our:

  • Animal Hospital and Vet Clinic services where we treat more than 25,000 animals each year.
  • Adoption Centre by providing sanctuary, rehabilitation, welfare and a new home for surrendered pets.
  • Care for the community through our numerous outreach programs including pet therapy and emergency welfare assistance.

Our commitment to caring for animals will never change and we are in fact growing to meet the increasing demand for our services.

You will see we are retaining our legacy based on our founder Louisa Lort Smith’s passion, and our new logo represents the love and care for animals and the communities we serve.

And our refreshed branding is a testament to our wonderful staff, volunteers, supporters and community, and their unwavering commitment to the human-animal bond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Lort Smith Animal Hospital has been serving the community for 85 years. The changes we are making are only to refresh our brand with a new logo which represents the organisation’s growth and evolution.

This year is one of our most exciting years in our history, as we open Lort Smith Campbellfield, and undertake a redevelopment at North Melbourne.

We believe the time is right as. It’s a new chapter for Lort Smith.

Very little cost is involved in our brand refresh and new logo. Our focus remains on improving the health and happiness of animals and the people that care for them. This means we do not spend money unnecessarily, so all the changes with the brand refresh and logo will be done gradually over to time to minimise any waste and expenses. Lort Smith also works with suppliers who support our mission and offer generous not-for-profit rates.

We acknowledge that there will be a period of time where both the old and new branding will be in use, and we are comfortable with this. We believe this to be the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly method of implementing our refreshed brand.

Lort Smith Campbellfield will have the refreshed brand on its new signage as it is currently being built, and the North Melbourne site will adopt the new branding throughout its redevelopment. The changes to our materials will occur over the coming months, i.e. as stocks are depleted and uniforms worn out, they will be replenished in the new branding.

Lort Smith Animal Hospital – North Melbourne, and Lort Smith Campbellfield will offer slightly different services from each other, but always the highest level of care.

North Melbourne will remain an emergency hospital and continue to offer regular vet clinic services.

Campbellfield will provide Vet Clinic services, be the home of our Adoption Centre and also have a Community Dog Park for all to enjoy but will not provide emergency hospital services.

Note: Redevelopment works started at North Melbourne in December 2021. Our services will be affected at different stages of the building works. Details will be provided as they become available on our Redevelopment Works page.
