In September last year we welcomed our new CEO and leadership team. As is usual for a new CEO, they undertook a thorough review of operations. During this review we discovered a misalignment between clinical certification levels for veterinary nurses and our Enterprise Agreement was found.
This subsequently revealed an underpayment to 27 current and 34 past staff. We have addressed this issue and all affected staff, past and present are being recompensed in full, including Super and compound interest on the amounts, immediately. In the interests of thoroughness, investigations have been made right back to 2018. This has revealed a further 60 nurses who we are unable to establish if they are affected. We are following every possible avenue to contact them. We value all our staff and the vital and compassionate work they undertake every day, caring for the animals of Melburnians. This should never have happened and we have made changes to protect against this happening again.
