Australia’s biggest not-for-profit animal hospital
Join our team
Lort Smith is Australia’s biggest, busiest, independent and not-for-profit animal hospital.
Work and learn alongside 60 other vets and 100 nurses in one of the world’s most liveable cities. The hospital is located in the heart of Melbourne, and we’ve recently opened a separate state-of-the-art clinic and adoption centre.
We treat over 20,000 patients every year, supporting the wellbeing of all animals and the people who love them.
Your work here is more than a job
Cultivating the deep connection between people and animals is the heart of what we do. And, from the clinical frontlines to essential support roles, you’ll see that bond in every dog, cat, rabbit, budgie, salamander and human we help.
Learn about Melbourne, our work and our community…
Marvellous Melbourne
Bayside and ocean beaches, more cafes than a human can contemplate, world-class coffee, lush gardens to stroll, and galleries galore including the acclaimed National Gallery of Victoria. Melbourne is one of Australia’s most popular places to live.
