1. Contact your veterinarian immediately.
  2. Your veterinarian may instruct you to induce vomiting, however, do not induce vomiting unless instructed to.
  3. Bring any product, packaging or prescription to aid your veterinarian in determining the dose your pet was exposed to.

CLINICAL SIGNS

Clinical signs occur from 30 minutes to 2 hours of ingestion.

  • Lethargy
  • Depression
  • Inappetence
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Dilated pupils (mydriasis)
  • Protrusion of the third eyelids
  • Uncoordinated gait (ataxia)
  • Weakness
  • Pale gums
  • Collapse

EFFECTS OF TOXICITY

Pergolode is a dopamine agonist which mimics the effects of the neurotransmitter dopamine. Because it acts on a range of hormones, it may present a risk to pregnant or lactating female animals.

TREATMENT

Veterinary care consists of gastrointestinal decontamination (which may involve gastric lavage, and administration of activated charcoal), intravenous fluids and blood pressure monitoring.
